Nabors employees participated in the first annual Good Nabors Day on Saturday, Dec. 16, in seven countries where Nabors and Tesco have significant operations. Employee volunteers from Nabors partnered with community organizations in 10 cities to meet needs in the areas of housing and hunger, science and math education, health/safety/environment, and the arts. View photos and learn more about each of our community outreach projects below.
In Houston, Texas, USA, nearly 100 Nabors employees volunteered at the Houston Food Bank and helped sort, scan, package and load nearly 67,000 meals that will be distributed to those in need this holiday season. Volunteer projects included assembling supplies into 4,950 backpacks for Backpack Buddy, a program that works to fill the gap of southeast Texas children at-risk of hunger by providing nutritious, child-friendly food for schoolchildren to take home over the weekend. Employees also packed 21,000 boxed meals for the Senior Box program, an initiative that distributes monthly boxed meals to income-eligible seniors to improve their health, nutrition and well-being. In addition, about 40 Nabors employees joined the Buffalo Bayou Partnership to help clean up debris and remove silt along the Buffalo Bayou after the effects of Hurricane Harvey.
In Odessa, Texas, USA, employee volunteers sorted two truckloads of canned goods and non-perishable items and packed boxes for local families in need at the West Texas Food Bank.
In Lafayette, Louisiana, USA, employees packaged 2,500 shelf-stable meals at Second Harvest Food Bank – Feeding South Louisiana to be distributed within local communities.
In Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, USA, employee volunteers packaged 22 pallets of pantry-related food items, which equates to an estimated 14,256 meals to be distributed for local needy families at the Regional Food Bank of Oklahoma.
In Calgary, Alberta, Canada, approximately 30 employees sorted and organized donations at the Women in Need Society (WINS) Distribution Centre. WINS is an award-winning, Calgary-based charity that helps enhance the social well-being of women and their families.
In Ciudad del Carmen, Mexico, employee volunteers partnered with the Lions Clubs International of Ciudad del Carmen to deliver toys and breakfast to approximately 900 children in low-income neighborhoods. The breakfast and toy delivery was held at the local municipal sports center, Polideportivo Chechen.
